How to Get Turkish Citizenship? A foreigner who meets any of the following conditions can acquire citizenship with the proposal of the Ministry and the decision of the Council of Ministers within the scope of the law:
- Foreigners determined by the Ministry of Economy to have made a fixed capital investment of at least 500 thousand USD,
- Foreigners who have purchased immovables worth at least 400 thousand USD and put an annotation that they will not be sold for three years in the land registry and have been determined by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization,
- Foreigners who create employment for at least 50 people and whose situation is determined by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security,
- Foreigners, who have deposited at least 500 thousand USD in one of the banks operating in Turkey and stipulated to keep it for 3 years, determined by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency,
- Foreigners identified by the Undersecretariat of Treasury, who purchase government debt instruments worth at least 500 thousand US Dollars and stipulate that they hold for three years.
WHERE SHOULD I APPLY TO BE A TURKISH CITIZEN?
In order to acquire our citizenship, it is necessary to apply to the Provincial Directorate of Population and Citizenship in the country, and exceptionally to the Ministry of Interior, and to our representations abroad. These procedures are initiated in person or with a special power of attorney.

METHODS OF ACQUISITION OF TURKISH CITIZENSHIP
ACQUISITION OF TURKISH CITIZENSHIP BY DECISION OF AUTHORIZED AUTHORITY
A foreigner who wishes to acquire Turkish citizenship can acquire Turkish citizenship upon the decision of our Ministry, provided that he/she meets the conditions specified in the law.
If you become a Turkish citizen with the decision of the competent authority, there will be no change in your spouse’s citizenship status. The children of one of the parents who have the right of custody on the date of acquisition of citizenship acquire Turkish citizenship with the consent of the other spouse. If the other parent does not consent, action is taken in accordance with the judge’s decision in the settlement of one of the parents. Children of parents who acquire Turkish citizenship together will also acquire citizenship. If the children of the parents who are not processed with them apply to acquire Turkish citizenship after reaching adulthood, the provisions of the article regarding the general acquisition of Turkish citizenship are applied.
Meeting the required conditions does not provide an absolute right to acquire Turkish citizenship.
GENERAL ACQUISITION OF TURKISH CITIZENSHIP
How to Get Turkish Citizenship? Foreigners who want to obtain Turkish citizenship can acquire citizenship with the decision of the ministry if they meet the following conditions.
a) The applicant must be mature and have the power to distinguish, according to the law of the country of which he is a citizen, and if he is stateless, according to the Turkish Civil Code No. 4721,
b) The applicant must reside in Turkey for five consecutive years, backwards from the date of application. A foreigner who wishes to acquire our citizenship may be outside of Turkey for a total of 12 months during the residence period sought for the application. The periods spent outside of Turkey are considered within the residence period.
A foreigner who makes a request to obtain Turkish citizenship can stay outside of Turkey for a period of not more than 6 months in total during the residence period sought for the application, or he can make a cut in his residence. Periods spent outside Turkey/times with interruptions are considered within the residence period. In addition, the purpose of issuing the residence permit is also important. Citizenship requests of foreigners staying in our country for tourism purposes and foreigners staying for educational purposes are not taken. Since these criteria are determined by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship, they should be followed from the Provincial Directorates of Population and Citizenship.)
c) He/she should confirm with his/her actions that he/she has decided to settle in Turkey. (Buying a house in Turkey, investing, establishing a business, transferring the trade and business center to Turkey, working in a workplace with a work permit or marrying a Turkish citizen, applying as a family, parents who have previously acquired Turkish citizenship, such as having siblings or children or completing your education in Turkey)
ç) Must not have a disease that may pose a danger to general health,
d) Must have good morals (Must give confidence to those around him with his behaviors in the society, must not have bad habits that are not welcomed by the society and are contrary to the values of the society),
e) Should be able to speak Turkish at a level that can adapt to social life,
f) Must have an income or profession to provide for himself and his dependents in Turkey,
g) It should not be in a situation that could endanger national security and public order.
ACQUISITION OF TURKISH CITIZENSHIP EXCEPTIONALLY
Provided that they do not pose any danger in terms of national security and public order, the following foreigners can acquire Turkish citizenship upon the proposal of the Ministry and the decision of the Council of Ministers.
a) Foreigners who provide the supply of industrial facilities to Turkey or who have passed or are thought to be doing extraordinary services in economic, social, sportive, cultural, scientific, technological and artistic fields and for whom a justified offer has been made by the relevant ministries,
b) Foreigners who have a residence permit and Turquoise Card holders pursuant to the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458, and their foreign spouses, minor or dependent children of himself and his spouse,
c) Foreigners who are required to be naturalized,
d) Foreigners who are accepted as immigrants (they are foreigners of Turkish descent and Turkish culture who come to Turkey alone or collectively to settle and are accepted as immigrants in accordance with the Settlement Law No. 5543)
The requests of those who are in a state to pose an obstacle in terms of national security and public order are rejected by the Ministry. The process of applying for exceptional citizenship and acquiring Turkish citizenship accordingly is carried out by the Ministry of Interior.
BECOME A TURKISH CITIZEN BY MARRIAGE
A foreigner who marries a Turkish citizen cannot directly become a Turkish citizen. For this, she must have been married to a Turkish citizen for at least 3 years and her marriage must continue. Foreigners who meet these conditions can apply to acquire Turkish citizenship.
In applicants;
