How Long Is a Residence Permit Obtained?
How long Georgian citizens can reside in Turkey differs according to the type of residence permit. Citizens of Georgia can apply by choosing the appropriate one among the following types of residence permits.
- Short Term Residence Permit
Short residence permit is a general type of residence permit, and Georgian citizens who do not meet the requirements to obtain any of the other types of residence permits can apply. Georgians who want to apply for a short-term residence permit are required to meet one of the following conditions determined in accordance with the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458.
- Citizens of Georgia who want to reside in Turkey for the purpose of establishing a commercial connection;
- Citizens of Georgia who come to Turkey to conduct scientific research;
- Citizens of Georgia who own real estate in Turkey;
- Citizens of Georgia who want to reside in Turkey for tourism purposes

- Student Residence Permit
Georgian citizens residing in Turkey for the purpose of pre-bachelor education, undergraduate, graduate and doctorate education and registered to the Higher Education Institution are required to apply for a student residence permit.
- Family Residence Permit
Georgians who are married to a Turkish citizen or a foreign national residing in Turkey with a residence permit can apply for a family residence permit. In addition, the foreign national children of the foreigner who will receive a family residence permit can also obtain a residence permit within this scope.
- Long Term Residence Permit
Georgian citizens who have resided in Turkey continuously for at least 8 years in line with the criteria determined by the Migration Policy Board of the Ministry of Interior can apply. When calculating the uninterrupted 8 years, half of the time spent as a student is taken into account.
Documents Required for Residence Permit for Citizens of Georgia
