As a rule, tourist visa applications are received from the foreign representation of the Republic of Turkey of the foreigner’s permanent residence. However, citizens of some countries can make their tourist visa applications electronically without actually going to the foreign representative office. A document showing the income status, a document supporting the return, a hotel reservation and an invitation are requested from the foreigner who applies for a visa. The purpose here is to ensure that the person’s visit is suitable for its purpose.
Foreigners applying for a visa to Turkey are required to have a passport valid for at least 60 days after the expiry of their Turkey visa , or a valid document instead of a passport.
In cases where the foreigner applies for a tourist visa with a letter of invitation to come to Turkey, the identification number, residence address, contact number of the inviting Turkish citizen, the duration of the foreigner’s stay and the purpose for which he or she came should be stated in the invitation letter. In cases where the foreigner applying for a visa has a kinship relationship with the inviting Turkish citizen, this should be stated in the invitation letter. In addition, in cases where the inviter states that he will bear all the accommodation expenses of the foreigner, the applicant is not required to have sufficient financial means. In this case, a document showing the income status of the inviting person is required.
About the invitation letter…
It is not always natural persons (individuals) who send an invitation letter to the foreigner, sometimes legal entities also send an invitation letter. In cases where companies and institutions send an invitation letter, a tax plate is requested. In addition, it is requested to declare that the subsistence and accommodation of the foreigner to whom the invitation is sent will be covered by this institution. In this case, the foreigner is not required to document that he has a sufficient financial order. The said document is given by the inviting institution.
In the tourist visa application, the document supporting the return is requested from the foreigner. The purpose of the Consulate in requesting this document is to create an indication of the person’s return. In particular, citizens of countries with underdeveloped economies and high rates of unemployment come to Turkey with a tourist visa in order to work unofficially. Official authorities request documents supporting return in order to prevent illegal immigration. Documents showing that the foreigner has assets or permanent employment in their country are accepted as supporting documents. For example, the person’s payroll, workplace activity certificate, student certificate, bank account statement, immovable property deed are counted as supporting documents.
